2024 Fil-Am Presidential Scholar

The awardee of the 2024 Fil-Am Presidential Scholar is Peyton Harvey.

 

A humble, soft-spoken, and driven teenager who is proud to be a Filipino-American, Peyton is the child of Rick and Estella Harvey from Duluth. Born and raised in metro Atlanta, he attends Paul Duke STEM High School in Norcross and will be graduating May 23, 2024.

 

Ranks #2 out of 312 students, Peyton is the salutatorian with a GPA of 4.5 and the STAR student with the highest SAT score of 1570 (also the highest at his school). He has numerous academic achievements, one of which being the finalist at the International Science and Engineering Fair. With his impressive credentials, he will no doubt receive a number of acceptance letters from different universities. Georgia Institute of Technology is the first to respond.

 

Peyton has an innate capacity to lead and to make a positive difference in the world. He is drawn to major in engineering in hopes of improving the efficacy and system of the industrial world through his creativity, innovative ideas, and designs.

 

Aside from his exceptional academic achievement, Peyton is musically talented. One of his hobbies is playing the piano. He taught himself to play the instrument at the age of 9 and has since continued playing and joined competitions. He was presented the Award of Excellence in the Georgia Music Teachers Association piano competition and is also a regular performer on Fil-Am’s Sariling Tugtugin, Himig at Sayaw.

 

 “In my life, I hope to make a positive difference in the world. I would just like to be a blessing to all of those around me and do everything to improve the lives of others. I have a commitment to God to leave the world a better place than I found it.”
