APPLICANT CRITERIA:

Be a high school senior at an accredited institution in the Greater Atlanta area.

Be a resident of Georgia
-
Be a dependent of a paid member of the Filipino-American Association of Greater Atlanta for at least 2 consecutive years.

Be of Filipino descent
-
Have a consistent superior record of academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 3.5
-
Exhibit good leadership and citizenship.
-
Consistently participate in extra-curricular and community/volunteer activities
-
Not be related to any one of the current 2021 Fil-Am Officers.
SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION & RULES:

The recipient will be designated as the 2021 FIL-AM PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLAR.

Applicants will be judged on their overall academic achievement, leadership qualities, extra-curricular involvement, and community service.

Judging will be done primarily from the application forms and documentation submitted, but the scholarship committee shall have the discretion of requesting a personal interview.

The scholarship award will be One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) from the Filipino- American Heritage Foundation, Incorporated.

Furthermore, the recipient of the 2021 FIL-AM Presidential Scholarship Award will represent FIL-AM as one of the 2021 Asian/Pacific-American Council of Georgia (APAC) Scholars and will receive an additional five hundred dollars ($500.00). And as such, he or she will be qualified to apply to any available scholarship/s offered by Asian/Pacific-American Council of Georgia (APAC).

The scholarship recipient will be REQUIRED to be present at the virtual awarding of the Asian/Pacific American Council of Georgia in May 2021. Date and time: TBD

The scholarship recipient will be REQUIRED to be present at all Fil-Am’s events:

Summer Cultural Event - Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Clayton County Performing Arts Center; Fall Picnic - Pinckneyville Community Recreation Center; Bingo Social – venue, date and time TBD; Christmas Family Party –venue, date and time TBD; New Year’s Eve Ball - Thursday, December 31, 2021 Venue: TBD
