Omar is featured in American Who's Who Association Book Volume II, recognized in the 2007-2008 National Edition of Who's Who Registry of Academic Excellence.

Zabala-Juneli

Juneli Zabala is Fil-Am's APAC 2008 Scholar

Juneli Granados Zabala, 17-year-old daughter of Jun and Beth Zabala of Jonesboro, Georgia, is a graduating senior from Jonesboro High School. She is a recipient of the Presidential Award (top 15% of her class).

She is an active member of The National Beta Club (president), National Honor Society, Key Club (president), Model United Nations (team leader), and Spanish Club. She has served in the Student Council as Senior President, Junior President, and Sophomore Vice-President. She played Varsity Tennis all four years of her high school career. She was in the Chamber/Elite Orchestra for 7 years and garnered the Music Director's Award. She has competed in various academic fairs, winning First Place in the State Level Science Fair, First Place in the County Level Science Fair, First Place in the Environmental Science Fair, and third Place in the Social Science Fair. She also received First Place Award in the National 4-H Competition for the State of Georgia.

Juneli has volunteered her time with different community organizations like Southern Regional Medical Center, Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort, PAWS Atlanta Animal Shelter, Calvary Refuge Center for Hurricane Katrina victims, and Soup Kitchen. She has also volunteered as Elementary School Tutor and Vacation Bible School Teacher. Juneli plans to attend Georgia Southern University in the fall and pursue a degree in Nursing, following in her mother's footsteps. "Sure, doctors diagnose, but nurses heal - and there is nothing more worthy a person can do," says Juneli regarding her aspirations of becoming a nurse. Juneli enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping, traveling, playing the viola and piano, meeting new people, and making new friends whenever she can.
