1. Drop the "Alám mo ba kung sino akó? attitude. Replace with "Ayos lang. Nakikinig ako."
2. Drop the "Akala mo kung sino siyá" attitude. Replace with "Ayos lang. Nakikinig ako."
3. Say "Baká malî ako. I could be wrong." and "Baká tamŕ ka. You may be right." and mean what you say. The true story has many parts. You know some parts. Others know some parts. Put the parts together to get the whole story.
4. If there is something you don't understand, ask politely. If you are asked a question, don't take it as an attack on your credibility or character. Answer the question as a simple request for information. You'll look bad, if you become defensive. You'll look good, if you maintain your calm and remain confident.
5. If someone interrupts you, calmly say: "Please let me finish." Don't say it angrily. You'll look better, if you seem calm. You won't look good, if you appear irritated.
6. If you tried to interrupt, calmly say:"I'm sorry," then let the person speaking finish.
7. It's OK to say "I don't know," if you really don't know. Nobody knows everything.
8. If you don't know, don't pretend to know.
9. Don't talk about something of which you know nothing.
10. If you make a mistake, admit it. Don't hide or cover it up. It's more trouble to cover up a mistake than to admit it.
