On Friday, March 5, pick-up your FREE commemorative t-shirt ($20 value) at the will call window of the Philips Arena. The Atlanta Hawks organization will also donate $2 for every ticket sold, to the Haiti earthquake victims, on behalf of the Filipino-American community of Georgia.
Meet & greet from 5:30 to 6:30 pm (details to be released Tuesday afternoon).
At 6:45 pm, a Philippine cultural presentation (“tinikling” dance & a tagalog song from Mayette Bayani) will be done on the basketball court prior to the 7:30 tip-off. This a once in a lifetime opportunity, let’s not let it slip away. Be there to declare your heritage!
His Excellency Willy C. Gaa, Philippine Ambassador to the United States, Honorary Consul General Ray Donato and local community and business leaders will be there to lead the Filipino-American community in celebrating our Filipino heritage through the game of basketball. This is made possible through the initiative of Raymond Townsend, the first and only Filipino-American who ever played in the NBA.
Regardless of our organization affiliation or economic status, we all have one thing in common, we are all Filipino-Americans (or friends of). It will not hurt if we all declare and celebrate our Filipino heritage, as one community, even if for just one night!
